the importance of an engagement shoot
Why are they important?
You are a newly engaged couple and you just can't stop staring at that sparkly new piece of bling on your finger. To both of you, congratulations! You now have a huge celebration to plan. It's a time filled with anticipation, joy and love. Capturing this moment in your life can often be just as exciting as your wedding day.
An important chapter in your life that needs to be documented:
Early in the engagement is the perfect time for an e-shoot. It is a new chapter in your love story. While the excitement of the proposal and visions of the future are still fresh in your mind, that emotion will be clearly evident in your photos. Grabbing those raw emotions just between the two of you is a rare opportunity and you'll be glad to have this to look back on when you're old and grey. You deserve to document this part of your story just as much as the next.
Build a bond with your Photographer:
You will spend more time with me (your wedding photographer) on your wedding day than with anybody else. At your engagement session we will have time together in a relaxed environment to really get to build our bond. This will help me to better capture your true personalities.
Feeling comfortable and confident in front of the camera:
No one walks into their session with us feeling super confident and comfortable in front of the camera, but by the end of our session, they feel otherwise! It takes about 20 minutes for a couple to warm up and be themselves in front of the camera and on a wedding day, we most likely won't have that time to spare. When you're confident, it shows in your images. Consider your engagement session your practice time for your big day. You need to be prepared to have fun, cuddle, kiss, tickle, laugh and just be in love with each other. I will take care of the rest! After my couples have seen how they rocked their engagement sessions, they have a sense of confidence moving forward to their wedding day.
Add elements of who you are:
You have an opportunity to take some truly unique photos, different from any you've had before, so make good use of it! Add elements of "who you are" to the session to make it special; from the location to any props that is either fun or significant to your relationship. This brings an element of spontaneity, creativity and originality to the shoot which makes the session all the more fun.
Your photos are actually pretty useful!
Use them for save-the-date cards, reception seating charts, table indicators, wedding programs, guest books or even just a really awesome coffee table book for home.
